In the 21st century, global citizenship requires a comprehensive understanding of key challenges that are relevant worldwide, and, of equal importance, the skills and confidence to construct innovative solutions to those problems. This fall, the course theme is environmental sustainability. In this highly active, entirely project-based course, students apply human-centered design methods to develop creative solutions to environmental challenges on campus, in the local community, or beyond. Students explore the scientific concepts essential to understanding environmental questions, collect data from relevant people and organizations, develop their own interpretations, and construct solutions. At least one partial day field trip within the first 2 weeks of classes is a possibility; registered students will be emailed well before classes begin with dates.
