Faculty Profile for Professor Chase
Explores the artists and researchers whose contributions to music have shaped its trajectory in the 20th and 21st centuries. Students are provided a unique opportunity to engage with and respond to acoustic, electroacoustic, and digital works that have significantly impacted artistic relationships to sound as a medium. No prior musical study or background assumed. Students who successfully complete this seminar can satisfy the human thought and expression areas of inquiry requirement or the artistic practice and interpretation liberal arts practice.
Ryan Chase is an Emmy-nominated composer whose work is regularly heard on PBS and NPR affiliates. Accolades for his work include the Leonard Bernstein Fellowship from Tanglewood, the Charles Ives Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and multiple awards from ASCAP and BMI.
